FAQs
What about addiction?
If you are thinking you might have a problem—with alcohol, drugs, food, sex—figuring out where you are and what you want to do about it are a part of therapy. Embarking on recovery is a brave act that requires our full attention because we are doing no less than rewiring our brains. I have long term experience supporting clients in recovery, and may ask you to attend a recovery support group in addition to therapy if you are not already doing so.
How do I know if trauma contributes to my [anxiety & depression]?
We used to think you had to be in combat or a major disaster to have trauma. We now understand that “trauma” can be stored within us as a result of the ungrieved losses of everyday life. We may unconsciously repeat and even recreate these losses over and over in an effort to heal from them. I am trained in evidence based treatments that can help you identify the original losses and heal from them. The result? You can live in the present moment and enjoy it more fully.
“You have given me so many tools, and you have brought to me so much understanding with kindness. Thank you so much for everything.”
